I think i would like to work on a story about seattle in some respects because of the unique culture and flavor of life here… that would be the most interesting thing to do for me but it wouldn’t be about seattle it would be like life in seattle kind of in a coming of age type of tale way… like the changes i’ve been through for example in my life and the stages I have gone through and the sub cultures i’ve seen to me are kind of a commentary on seattles kind of ability to change you by altering your perception of what is normal.
I dont know if this would work as a group project… i think a weather capture or something like a construction site build-up would be something the group project could do… or actually I think it should be something tech related maybe a chain of interviews with dated commentary… go out to like 5 people one week and interview them about some tech savvy item and then go out to 5 more a month later and provide contrasting interviews to demonstrate how fast or slow technology adoption is in seattle… that would be tight. for the group i think more than 5 interviews would work better maybe more like twenty random approaches.. for control it would need to be done in the same area…

Perception of normal… that could be cool I think. I can visualize a collection of questions that relate that you ask a lot of different people in different locations around town and then creating some sort of montage out of that. It would kind of create a profile of Seattle.

Not sure what you mean by “weather capture.” Some analysis of historical weather patterns might be cool, given the Seattle tendency to ruminate a lot over precipitation. E.g., was that New Year’s storm of 1936 (I’m making this up!) really worse than the Christmas storm of 1996? The tech interviews idea is quite interesting, but I would think it would take at least a year to develop properly.

Great ideas – team up with other Seattlite group project fans and you can narrow it down to on fabulous idea

Not a clear picture of a pitch for an individual story.
